Ampicillin

Pharmacological effect. Mechanism of action similar to amoxicillin.Indications for use. For the treatment of patients with pneumonia, bronchopneumonia, with lung abscess, tonsillitis, peritonitis, cholecystitis, sepsis, intestinal infections, and postoperative infections, soft tissue and other infections caused by organisms sensitive to it. 


The drug is highly effective in urinary tract infections caused by Escherichia coli, Proteus, enterococci, or mixed infection. Effective in the treatment of gonorrhea.

Dosage and administration. Single dose for adults - 0.5 grams daily - 2-3 years Children prescribe a rate of 100 mg / kg. The daily dose divided into 4-6 receptions. Duration of treatment depends on the severity of the disease and the effectiveness of therapy (5 - 10 days to 2-3 weeks. And more).

Side effects. In the treatment of ampicillin may experience allergic reactions such as skin rashes, urticaria, angioedema, and others, in rare cases - anaphylaxis (mainly the introduction of the sodium salt of ampicillin).
